Week of October 26 to October 29

Honors English 10
Students will complete all preparation work for the Dystopia Introduction. Students will be responsible for a detailed note-taking of the first section of the novel, Fahrenheit 451. The note guide will be discussed in class, but should follow a similar structure of the LRJs for the Short Story Unit. Vocabulary Quiz 2 will be given on Friday 10/30.

Honors English 12
Students will take the 2nd Quiz for the remaining readings of Beowulf and will then begin working on the Hero's Journey: Epic Poem project. The project will be due on Friday November 6th. In addition to the project, students will also be responsible for completing a series of Anglo Saxon poetry readings in the literature book. Vocabulary homework for List 2 will be due Friday 10/30.

Advanced Writing
Students will continue working on the first installment of the novel writing session. This installment is due in class on Wednesday 10/28 and will be workshopped on the following two days.

Practical Literature 10
Students will continue in-class readings of Fahrenheit 451 Part One and will complete the following study guide questions. The complete study guide will be due on Friday 10/30. Students should also be responsible for adding to information to the Montag and Clarisse character charts.

Practical English 10
Students will be responsible for submitting a specific topic for research and will begin developing a thesis statement. Completed thesis statements will be due on Thursday 10/29. Students will also complete the Vocabulary 3 quiz on Friday 10/30.

Week of October 19 to October 23

Honors English 10
Students will submit all work for Contents of the Dead Man's Pocket (LRJ and Note Guide). CDT Testing will occur on Monday and Tuesday. Comprehensive Short Story test will be given on Wednesday 10/21. Vocabulary HW for Lesson 2 will be due Thursday 10/22. The Note Guide for A Problem will be due Friday 10/23. Dystopian Literature will also begin on Friday.

Honors English 12
Students will be responsible for finishing the close reading of Beowulf and will begin working on the planning of the Epic Poetry Project.Vocabulary 1 Quiz will be given on Friday 10/23.

Advanced Writing
Students will start drafting the first chapter of the novel for a Workshop on Wednesday 10/28. All students must have confirmation for their sign up to NaNoWriMo.

Practical Literature 10
Students will continue working on Dystopian Literature in preparation for Fahrenheit 451. CDT Testing will occur on Tuesday 10/20. Students must complete the Create a Dystopia project by Friday 10/23.

Practical English 10
Students will review for the Phrase Test on Monday 10/19 which will be given on Wednesday 10/21. The Vocabulary Quiz 3 will be given on Friday 10/23.

Week of October 13 to October 16

Honors English 10
Students will submit all notes and Literary Response Journal for Masque of the Red Death by Tuesday 10/13. Notes and LRJ for Contents of the Dead Man's Pocket will be due Thursday. Vocabulary Quiz on list 1B will be given on Wednesday 10/14; homework for list 2 will be due Monday 10/19. A comprehensive test on the Short Story Unit will be given on Wednesday 10/21.

Honors English 12
Students will submit and present the Modern Beast project on Tuesday 10/13. Readings for Beowulf must be completed by Friday 10/16. Projects for the Epic Poetry project will be discussed on Monday 10/19. Vocabulary 1 Quiz will be given on Friday 10/16.

Advanced Writing
Students will begin structuring plot for the novel and must register with NaNoWriMo. Students must choose three elements of research that must be done prior to the beginning stages of novel writing.

Practical Literature 10
Students will review all 5 short stories in the Unit. A Test on the Short Story Unit will be given on Thursday 10/15. Students will begin discussing Dystopian Literature and will complete the Create a Dystopia Project.

Practical English 10
Students will finish the practice quiz on Infinitives and Infinitive Phrases on Tuesday 10/13 will the formal quiz on Wednesday 10/14. Vocabulary Quiz will be given on Friday 10/16. Phrase Test will be given on Monday 10/19.

Week of October 5 to October 9

Honors English 10
Students will submit all work for The Lottery including the reading notes and Literary Response Journal on Tuesday 10/6. Students will continue reading Contents of the Dead Man's Pocket in class and will complete the corresponding worksheets. The Masque of the Red Death creative fiction project will be due Friday 10/9. Due to the shortened school day on Friday, the quiz for Vocabulary 1B will postponed until Tuesday 10/13.

Honors English 12
Students will continue working on the Modern Beast project for Lord of the Flies and will submit the projects on Tuesday 10/13. Work on epic poetry and Beowulf will begin this week. Students will begin reading excerpts and will have corresponding work that will be assigned and due next week.

Advanced Writing
Students will continue workshopping Story Starter pieces on Monday and Tuesday. Students will begin working on a Characterization project later in the week that will be due Friday 10/16.

Practical Literature 10
Students will continue working on information for The Lottery. Students will complete the reading guide and a parallel application exercise that will be completed in class. Students will have one homework assignment dealing with group involvement that will be due Friday 10/9.

Practical English 10
Students will complete the Vocabulary 2 Quiz on Monday 10/5. The gerund worksheets will be due on Tuesday 10/6 when a review for the quiz will occur. The Gerund and Gerund Phrase Quiz will be given on Wednesday 10/7. Worksheets on Infinitives will be distributed on Thursday and should be completed for Tuesday 10/13.
