November 21 to December 2

Due to the Holiday, assignments for two weeks will be covered in this post.

Broadcast Journalism
Students must complete the Broadcast Journalism terminology quiz on Tuesday 11/22. Students must then complete a one page paper on a famous American Journalist from 1950-2010; papers will be due by Friday 12/2.

Honors English 10
Students must submit Part 3 Study Guides for Fahrenheit 451 by Monday 11/21. The final test on the novel will be given on Tuesday 11/22. Both submissions for the Propaganda Commercial project are due by Wednesday 11/23 at the beginning of class - all files must be accessible at that time; paper accompaniment must also be given that day. Vocabulary homework for Lesson 3 is due Friday 12/2. The Lyrics in Literature paper must be submitted on Monday 12/5; lyrics must be approved by me no later than Wednesday 11/30.
Students will also spend time in class preparing for the Keystone Exam. All Keystone work must be completed during regular class time. Keystone Literature tests are scheduled for Wed 12/7 and Thurs 12/8.

Advanced Writing
Students must submit a creative piece using the motif of "gratitude" or "family" by Friday 12/2. Papers must be a minimum of 1,200 words. Writings can be fiction or creative nonfiction.

Practical English 10
Students must complete the Participial Phrase Quiz on Tuesday 11/22. Students will continue with Verbals and should submit Gerund Worksheets by Thursday 12/1. A Gerund Phrase quiz will be given on Friday 12/2. The vocabulary homework for list 4 will also be due on Friday 12/2. Students will spend time in class preparing for the Keystone Exam. All Keystone work must be completed during regular class time. Keystone Literature tests are scheduled for Wed 12/7 and Thurs 12/8.

Week of November 14 to November 18

Broadcast Journalism
Students will continue planning for the rest of the year. Students will also begin viewing regular news programs and writing a synopsis of a typical story to better construct writing/editing skills of individual story packages.

Honors English 10
Students will continue working on propaganda projects with their groups. Commercials must be completed and submitted by Wednesday 11/23. Readings for Part III will be completed by Thursday 11/17 with daily in-class discussions. Study guides for Part III will be due on Friday 11/18. Final tests for Tuesday 11/22.

Advanced Writing
Students will attempt to recreate a specific element of a chosen author's voice or tone. Students must take notes at the writer workshop at Susquehanna University and must discuss what they learned from their individual shops with the class. Author writings are due Friday 11/18.

Practical English 10
Students will continue working on the Fahrenheit 451 projects. Projects will be due on Friday 11/18. Students will begin working on Verbal Phrases with worksheets due the following day of instruction. Quizzes on each verbal type will follow after three days of practice, setting up the first participial phrase quiz for Friday 11/18.

Week of November 7 to November 11

Broadcast Journalism
Students will work on planning December segments. Groups will begin editing individual packages and the 9th grade Drug Awareness videos.

Honors English 10
Students will begin working on the Propaganda Group projects. Projects will be due Wednesday 11/23. Discussions for Part II readings will take place in class on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Students will be given new reading assignments for Part III on Tuesday. Study guides for Part II will be due Friday 11/11.

Advanced Writing
Students will begin writing another 1,000 word creative short story due Monday 11/14. All students must have signed permission slips for the SU field trip in by Friday.

Practical English 10
Students will finish reading Fahrenheit 451 and will complete a test on Part III on Wednesday 11/8. Students will also complete a quiz on Prepositional Phrases on Wednesday. Work on verbals will follow immediately and will have a study guide due the following day.
