Week of February 19 to February 22

Feature Writing
Students will be responsible for reading the first section of Capote's In Cold Blood and must make note of first hand experiences that contribute the authority behind the story and are consistent with investigative reporting and nonfiction literature.

Advanced Writing
Finished drafts of the second creative fiction project will be due for review on Monday 3/4.

English 11
Students will take the Vocabulary 9 quiz on Tuesday 2/19 and will begin working on the upcoming list. Work for the outlines will begin in class and must be completed for submission on Friday 2/22. The draft of the research paper will be due on Monday 3/4.

Honors English 10
Students will take a quiz on Chapters 12-15 on Tuesday and will discuss the events of the novel. The rest of the week, students will have the opportunity to work on the first draft of the research paper due Friday 2/22.

Week of February 11 to February 14

Feature Writing
Students must read the first three chapters of Nelly Bly's Ten Days in Madhouse and focus on elements of personal experience that help enhance the writing.

Advanced Writing
Students must work on drafts for the second creative writing project and must have a draft completed by the last week of February for review and revision.

English 11
Students must hand in writing prompts for Of Mice and Men by Wednesday 2/13. A quiz on Vocabulary 9 will be given on Thursday 2/14. Outlines for the research paper must be submitted by Friday 2/22.

Honors English 10
Students will read up to and including Chapter 15 of To Kill a Mockingbird by Thursday 2/14. Chapters 16 & 17 must be completed by Tuesday 2/19. A vocabulary quiz for list 8A will be given on Thursday 2/14. Rough drafts for the research papers are due Friday 2/22.

Week of February 4 to February 8

Feature Writing
Students will develop definitions of Investigative Journalism and will list examples in popular culture that adhere to their definition. Popular documentaries and essays will be used as examples in class to demonstrate techniques to inform and persuade.

Advanced Writing
Track listings for the creative lyric story will be due Monday 2/4 for students in the even section and Tuesday 2/5 for students in the odd section. The track list must contain 12 songs with a minimum of 3 artists; the list must also contain a summary of what the intended story is about. Students will begin drafting stories over the next 2 weeks.

English 11
Students will read Chapters 5 & 6 in the novel Of Mice and Men and will complete the study guide answers for Wednesday 2/6. Outlines will be discussed in class and handouts will be distributed. The additional 20 information cards for the research project are due Monday 2/11.

Honors English 10
Students will discuss outlines in class and will have time to design webs and group card information into the MLA structure. Readings for Chapters 9-11 of To Kill a Mockingbird must be completed by Monday 2/4 with a test on Part One to follow on Thursday 2/7. Outlines will be submitted on Friday 2/8. Other upcoming deadlines for research requirements are as follows: Rough Draft with Peer Edit - Thursday 2/14 and Final Draft - Monday 2/25. Readings for Chapters 12-15 of To Kill a Mockingbird will be due Monday 2/11.
