Week of October 28 to November 1

Feature Writing
Students will begin planning for the Immersion Journalism project by setting up blog sites and making daily posts.

Honors English 10
Students will begin Unit 3, first focusing on mob mentality and The Lottery before moving into dystopia and Fahrenheit 451. Unit 1 projects will be due on Friday 11/1.

Academic English 9
Students will review Act II of Romeo and Juliet  and will have a test on Tuesday 10/29. Following the test, students will work on their metaphor poems.

Practical English 10
Students will review for Part I of Fahrenheit 451 and will test on Tuesday 10/29. Students will be responsible for reading Part II and completing study guides in class.

Week of October 15 to October 18

Feature Writing
Students will finish transcriptions of the personality profiles and will begin structuring the dialogue into story format. Students will work as a group to help peers understand a clear vision in the drafting.

Honors English 10
Students will review for the Unit 1 Test. The Usher selection test is due on Tuesday for class discussion. Students will study for the Unit 1 Test (Monday 10/21), the LRJ (Friday 10/25) and the Unit Project (Monday 10/28).

Academic English 9
Students will begin reading Act II of Romeo and Juliet. Study guides for each scene will be completed immediately after finishing each in class. Study guides will be due on Friday 10/18.

Practical English 10
Students will begin reading the novel Fahrenheit 451. Study guides for Part I will be filled out periodically during class discussions.

Week of October 7 to October 11

Feature Writing
Students will submit the second Top 10 article and will begin discussing investigative journalism in literature, starting with Fast Food Nation.

Honors English 10
Students will begin Magical Realism and will compare House Taken Over to The Fall of the House of Usher. Students will then read Where is Here? on Thursday and must complete the note guide for Friday. Binders will be collected on Friday 10/11.

Academic English 9
A test on Act I of Romeo and Juliet will be given on Wednesday 10/9. Students will then start working on Act II. Study guides must be completed at the end of each scene.

Practical English 10
Students will begin the Unit on Extending Freedom's Reach. This week students will discuss the introductory ideas, vocabulary, and will prepare with two presidential speeches and a short story before beginning work on Dystopia.
