Week of January 30 to February 4

English 11
Students will continue reviews of objects and complements and will have written homework assignments for each. A quiz on both will be given on Wednesday 2/1. Students will be responsible to continue independent research for their papers both in school and at home. Vocabulary terms will be due Monday 2/6.

Honors English 10
Students will finish Part One of To Kill a Mockingbird and will have written assessments this week. The essay test will be given on Friday and a smaller pop quiz will be given earlier in the week. Vocabulary terms will be due Monday 2/6.

SAT Prep
Students will have a quiz on Literary Devices on Tuesday 1/31 and will begin a review of grammar.

Week of January 23 to January 27

English 11
Students will continue review of Objects and Complements worksheets and lessons. Preliminary research will begin and library sessions will be devoted to independent search of web resources. Vocabulary quizzes for lesson 9 will be given on Thursday. Thesis statements will be due Friday Jan. 27.

Honors English 10
Students will be required to read up to and including chapter 5 of To Kill a Mockingbird, take notes and complete study guide questions. Vocabulary quizzes for Lesson 8A will be given on Thursday.

SAT Prep
Students will continue working with literary devices and will be required to give examples of each.

Week of January 17 to January 20

English 11
Students will begin working on the research paper. A list of assignments and due dates will be given. Broad and specific topics with both be due Friday 1/20. Vocabulary terms and sentences will also be due on Friday.


Honors English 10
To Kill a Mockingbird novels will be distributed with corresponding study guides and will be completed during independent reading. Vocabulary terms and worksheets will not be due until Monday 1/23.


SAT Prep
Class introductions and discussion of classroom expectations will be given.

Week of January 9 to January 13

Midterm Exams will be given during 1/10-1/13.

English 11
Vocabulary terms will be due Wednesday 1/18. Students will begin preparing for the research paper.

Honors English 10
Vocabulary terms will be given Friday 1/13 and will be due the following week. Students will begin preparing for the research paper.

Monday, January 2, 2012

Week of January 3 to January 6

English 11
Students will continue working with grammar and will have a subject predicate quiz on Wednesday Jan. 4th. Vocabulary will also be due on Wednesday with a quiz to follow on Friday. During this week students will also receive study guides and other materials to review for the midterm exam.

Journalism
Students will work on the final activities for the class. The word strength ratio will be due on Wednesday Jan 4th. Students will also have a perspective article due on Thursday Jan. 5th. During this week students will also receive study guides and other materials to review for the midterm exam.

Honors English 10
Vocabulary will be due on Wednesday. Students will complete a comprehensive test on phrases on Thursday Jan. 5th. Students will work in groups to present a 20-minute instructional session on a given topic in grammar. Presentations will be graded.

SAT Prep
Students will complete final review exercises and will discuss any remaining concerns that they may have in regard to performing well on standardized assessments.
