Week of September 26 to September 30

**CDT Tests will be given to 10th grade students on the following days.

Period 2 - Wednesday 9/28, Thursday 9/29
Periods 5,6,8 - Monday 9/26, Tuesday 9/27

Broadcast Journalism - Students must complete an independent project in addition to our everyday class assignments prior to Friday 10/28. The completed project includes planning, filming, editing, and submission before the due date.
All students will complete the Chapter 4 quiz on Friday 9/30.

Honors English 10
Due to CDTs students will be responsible for reading the majority of Masque of the Red Death on their own in class. A PPT with a corresponding study guide will be given next week. Students will have the choice to complete LRJs for two of the remaining four short stories in the unit. Due dates will be given in class based on which stories students plan to respond. The homework for Vocabulary Lesson 1B will be due on Friday 9/30.

Advanced Writing
Students will workshop Story Starters on Tuesday 9/27. Students will complete a series of in-class writing activities to focus on change in story, specifically plot.

Practical English 10
Due to CDTs students will read The Contents of the Dead Man's Pocket once the tests are completed. A PPT with a corresponding study guide will be given next week. Students will still continue focus on Parts of Speech and will complete a final quiz on Friday 9/30. The homework for Vocabulary Lesson 2 will be due on Friday 9/30.

Week of September 19 to September 23

Broadcast Journalism
Students will work on interview skills and will focus on the material covered in Chapter 4 of the textbook. All students must complete the camera quiz. Sign ups for individual projects will be open until Friday 9/23.

Honors English 10
Students can review previous Literary Response Journals and must submit the first LRJ for The Monkey's Paw by Friday 9/23. The vocabulary quiz for Lesson 1A will be given on Friday 9/23 with the review of words for Lesson 1B to follow immediately afterward. Group projects for Literary Devices must be submitted by the beginning of class on Monday 9/26.

Advanced Writing
Workshop #1 will end on Monday 9/19. The Story Starter assignment will begin on Tuesday and must be submitted for workshop by Sunday 9/25 at midnight.

Practical Literature 10
Students will submit all worksheets for Masque of the Red Death by Monday 9/19 at the end of class. Symbolism projects will be due at the beginning of class on Tuesday 9/20. Students will begin reading The Lottery and will be responsible for completing necessary worksheets.

Practical English 10
The quiz for Vocabulary Lesson 1 will be given on Friday 9/23. Students will begin Charting data for comprehension on parts of speech usage beginning Tuesday 9/20. Each week will cover a new skill.

Week of September 12 to September 16

Broadcast Journalism
Students must complete the equipment test before Friday 9/16. Students will take notes on Newsworthy elements of stories and will take a quiz corresponding to the notes on Friday 9/16.

Honors English 10
Figurative Language poems are due Friday 9/16. Group projects for Literary Device Visuals must be submitted and presented on Monday 9/26. Literary Response Journals for The Monkey's Paw will be due on Monday 9/19.

Advanced Writing
1,000 word picture stories will be submitted and read on Monday 9/12. Workshops for current student writing will follow a practice workshop of previous student pieces.

Practical Literature 10
Students will begin reading Masque of the Red Death and will complete the corresponding worksheets and study guides. After completion of the study guides, students must complete the visual symbol project to explain the story,

Practical English 10
Students must complete the Vocabulary 1 worksheets by Friday 9/16. Worksheets on Objects and Complements will be completed in class and a quiz will follow on Thursday 9/15.

Week of September 6 to September 9

Students in every class are responsible for returning signed copies of the classroom contract and approval or denial of the Remind Text Service Use.

Broadcast Journalism
Students will continue to work toward completion of 9/9 episode of In the News. In addition to their collective reporting and editing efforts, students will also work on studio set up and equipment proficiency. All students must test on camera use by Thursday 9/8. On Friday students will work on Chapter 4 of the textbook and are responsible for drafting mock interview questions due Tuesday 9/13.

Honors English 10
Students will continue on the Literary Terms & Devices PPT and will begin working on the group project. Directions for the project will be given on Wednesday 9/7 and a due date for the project will be discussed in class and will then be posted on next week's homework helpline post (This date will also be sent out via Remind Text). Students will have some class time this week to work on the project but are also expected to complete work outside of class as well. Terminology for Vocabulary Lesson 1A will be reviewed on Friday 9/9.

Advanced Writing
Students will begin the "A Picture's Worth 1,000 Words" project and must submit a photograph for approval on Wednesday 9/7. Students must complete the 1,000 word project and must email it to the workshop by Monday 9/12 by 9 A.M. Students will then read all submissions by Tuesday's class.

Practical Literature 10
Students will begin W.W. Jacobs' The Monkey's Paw and will discuss literary devices such as plot, foreshadowing, and characterization. Readings will be completed in class and will also include worksheets that must be completed; any work not completed in class must be submitted at the beginning of class the following day. Following The Monkey's Paw, students will then begin on Shirley Jackson's The Lottery.

Practical English 10
Students will continue an in-class review of Parts of Speech and are expected to complete the corresponding worksheets and activities. Students will then begin working on Objects and Complements and will also have worksheets for those. Terminology for Lesson 1 Vocabulary will be reviewed on Friday 9/9.
