Week of October 31 to November 4

English 11
Students will read Act IV of The Crucible in class and will complete the corresponding study guide as Homework due Monday 11/7. Vocabulary definitions for List #5 will be due Friday 11/4.

Journalism
Students will compete in an online game involving reporting and editing skills during class. A quiz on headlines, inverted pyramid style, and lead variation will be Friday 11/4.

Honors English 10
Students will be required to read Part Three of Fahrenheit 451 independently. During class students will focus on grammar and will have corresponding worksheets covering subjects, predicates, objects and complements. Vocabulary definitions and worksheets for List #4 will be due Friday 11/4.

SAT Prep
All work will be completed in class. A quiz on common mistakes on grammar and usage will be given Friday 11/4 and Monday 11/7.

Week of October 24 to October 28

English 11
Students will continue independent reading of Act III of The Crucible. Students are required to finish the reading by Thursday for a review of the Study Guide. A comprehensive test of Acts II and III will be given Friday 10/28. Vocabulary will not be due until the following week.

Honors English 10
Students will complete an in-class activity that will be finished as homework. Students are required to read half of Part Three of Fahrenheit 451 for the end of the week; periodic class discussions will occur. Vocabulary terms will be checked on Monday 10/24.

Journalism
Students will discuss leads, inverted pyramid style and headline writing for a quiz on Friday 10/28.

SAT Prep
All work will be completed in class.

Week of October 17 to October 21

English 11
Students will continue reading Act II of The Crucible and will be required to complete the corresponding study guide for Thursday 10/20. All work for Vocabulary Lesson 4 will also be due Thurs. 10/20.

Journalism
Students will begin Headline writing activities in class and will be required to submit all worksheets by Thursday 10/20. Students will also have a quiz on Leads, Inverted Pyramid and Headlines on the following week.

Honors English 10
Students will continue reading Fahrenheit 451 and will have periodic class discussions. Students will also be issued grammar books this week and will complete an overall review prior to working with objects and complements. All work for Vocabulary Lesson 3 will be due on Wednesday 10/19. Students will have an essay test on Part One of Fahrenheit 451 on Thursday 10/20.

SAT Prep
All work will be completed in class.

Week of October 10 to October 14

English 11
Students will continue reading Act I of The Crucible and will have a quiz on Wed. 10/12. Study guides for Act II and reading assignments have been given in class. Students will also take Vocabulary 3 Quiz on Friday.

Journalism
Students will be required to complete worksheet activities on developing strong, varied leads. Students will then begin to work on inverted pyramid style writing.

Honors English 10
Students will read Fahrenheit 451 independently but must be prepared to discuss its content in class. Study guides and activities will be assigned in class. Students will finish Part One by the end of the Thursday and will have an assessment the following week. Students also have a quiz on Vocabulary 2 on Friday 10/14.

SAT Prep
All work will be completed in class.

Week of October 3 to October 7

English 11
Students will begin reading Arthur Miller's play The Crucible. Corresponding study guides will be given and should be completed with the readings. Specific due dates for study guides will be given in class and will be posted on the Homework board; study guides carry a point value for completion and accuracy. Homework for Vocabulary List 3 will be due on Thursday 10/6.

Journalism
Students will outline Chapter 4 of the textbook and will complete a KWL chart. Obituaries are due on Wednesday 10/5 and must be typed! Obituaries will also include presentations to class on Wednesday. Students will then begin working on interview articles which will be due the following week.

Honors English 10
Students will review for the Unit 1 Test which will be administered on Wednesday 10/5. The test will cover The Monkey's Paw, The Lottery, Contents of the Dead Man's Pocket, Masque of the Red Death, and A Problem. Homework for Vocabulary List 2 will be due Thursday 10/6. Independent reading for Fahrenheit 451 will begin at the end of the week. Study guides for the novel will be distributed and will be checked for completion the following week.

SAT Prep
All work will be completed in class this week.
