Week of August 31 to September 4

Honors English 10
Students will review for the Summer Reading test that will be given on Tuesday September 1. Passing students will continue in the honors course; those who fail will be rescheduled to the academic course. Students will begin working on Literary Terms and Devices; assignments for the first unit will not be due until the second week. Updates will be given in another HWHL post as well as on the Remind text service.

Honors English 12
Students will review for the Summer Reading test that will be given on Tuesday September 1. Students will then begin working on the novel The Lord of the Flies. Updates will be given in another HWHL post as well as on the Remind text service.

Advanced Writing
Students will begin with a class introduction and a free write to allow for a basis of comparison for later writing assignments. Students will complete a series of in-class writing assignments, but will begin preparing for a homework assignments that requires multiple parts. Students must first establish a gmail address that will be shared with the course for correspondence prior to the upcoming workshops. the 1,000 word assignment requires a photo that must be approved before drafting the piece. The completed writing must be submitted to the group on Monday September 7. Updates will be given in another HWHL post as well as on the Remind text service.

Practical Literature 10
Students will begin with the class introduction and will continue with Literary Terms and Devices. Assignments for the first unit will be due at the end of the week. Updates will be given in another HWHL post as well as on the Remind text service.

Practical English 10
Students will start the first lesson of a biweekly vocabulary series. Homework for Vocabulary Lesson 1 will be due Monday September 7 with a quiz to follow on Friday September 11, The first unit will encompass a number of lessons on grammar. Students will begin with a diagnostic quiz on parts of speech and parts of a sentence.
