Week of December 21 to December 23

Honors English 10
Students will submit the Lyrics in Literature papers on Monday 12/21. Work on Verbal phrases will begin, starting with participles. Quizzes on Participles and other verbal phrases will be given after Christmas break.

Honors English 12
Students are responsible for reading Chapters 5-8 of Frankenstein for Monday 12/21. The in-class discussion will occur in class on Monday and Tuesday. Students will be responsible for Chapters 9-12 on Tuesday 1/5 after Christmas break.

Advanced Writing
Students will begin edits and revisions for the final portfolios due prior to midterms.

Practical Literature/English 10
Students will finish reading Acts IV and V of Julius Caesar. All study guides will be due on Tuesday 12/22, quizzes will be given after break.

Week of December 14 to December 18

Honors English 10
Students will submit the Propaganda Project Videos on Monday 12/14. Students will begin working on the grammar unit, starting with a brief review of parts of speech. Students will then work on Objects and Complements, followed by Verbal Phrases. Throughout the unit students will be given practice worksheets and will have five quizzes: Objects/Complements, Prepositional Phrases, Participles, Gerunds, and Infinitives. These elements will be tested cumulatively on the midterm.

Honors English 12
Students will begin reading Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. To begin students will read about the myth of Prometheus and will discuss their preconceived ideas about the novel due to its prevalence in popular culture. Once students begin reading, they will make comparisons to Bram Stoker's Dracula in terms of the novels' content and presentation.

Advanced Writing
Students will spend the week writing memoirs to be included in the final portfolio. A total of three memoirs must be submitted and will be themed on specific topics given in class.

Practical Literature 10
Students will begin reading Act III of Julius Caesar and will complete the corresponding study guide. During this act, students will focus on types of persuasion through pathos and logos and will be required to write two brief samples exercising both types of persuasion. Act IV will follow immediately after.

Practical English 10
Students will learn information about outlining and will be given resources regarding MLA format for the research paper. Outlines will be by Thursday 12/17; once outlines are reviewed and returned, students will begin drafting the paper.

Week of December 7 to December 11

Honors English 10
Students will complete the final test for Fahrenheit 451 on Monday 12/7. Tuesday - Thursday will be reserved for working on the Propaganda Commercial project or the Lyrics in Literature paper. The Vocabulary 4 Quiz will be given on Friday 12/11.

Honors English 12
Students will complete the reading of Macbeth Act V on Tuesday 12/8. A test on the entire play will follow on Thursday 12/10 and a comprehensive group project will be discussed. Vocabulary Quizzes for Lessons 3 & 6 will be due on Friday 12/11.

Advanced Writing
Students will submit 5 original examples of Found Poetry by Wednesday 12/9 and will then begin working on other types of poetry in class. All subsequent types covered will have assignments due on Monday 12/14.

Practical Literature 10
Students will begin reading Julius Caesar and will take notes on corresponding study guides. Study guides for Act I will be due on Friday 12/7 with a quiz also falling on that day.

Practical English 10
Students will continue working on research projects. The class will begin outlining on Thursday 12/10 and will submit a completed example on Monday 12/14 to begin drafting the research paper.
