Week of August 26 to August 30

WELCOME BACK!

All announcements pertaining to homework and project deadlines, test schedules, or changes will be listed under each specific class. If you have questions about anything posted on the block feel free to email me at ssmith@northschuylkill.net or address it in class.

Journalism
Students will review classroom expectations and course syllabus. The first Unit will cover the history of American journalism including important events and figures in the field. Presentations will be assigned at the conclusion of the Unit - Dates will be posted at the end of this week.


Advanced Writing
 Students will review classroom expectations and course syllabus.The first Unit will cover purpose and audience in writing. Writing assignments will occur on a regular basis and will be assigned throughout the course of the week. A written list of these assignments will be posted on a dry-erase board in the classroom.

Keystone Literature
Students will review classroom expectations and course syllabus.The first week will include pre-assessments to determine strengths and weaknesses in reading comprehension.

English 10
Students will review classroom expectations and course syllabus. The first Unit will cover literary terms and devices. A project involving 10 of the literary devices will be assigned Friday 8/30 and will be due Tuesday 9/3.

Honors English 10
On Monday 8/26, students will review study guides and cover material from the summer reading texts, The Joy Luck Club and The Hunger Games. The summer reading test will be given on Tuesday 8/27; students must score 70% or higher to remain in the Honors course and those who do not meet the requirement will be placed in an Academic section. Students will review classroom expectations and course syllabus and will begin the first Unit on literary terms and devices. All students must have a 1 Subject Notebook specifically for English class by Wednesday 8/28.
