Feature Writing
Due to the delays and cancellations on the week on 3/2 to 3/6, project proposals will be extended until Wednesday 3/11. Please review the requirements listed on the handout to begin structuring your summary, rationale, and schedule. Each student must independently acquire a nonfiction/investigative journalism book for class on Friday 3/13.
English 11
Due to the delays and cancellations, vocabulary homework will be due Monday 3/9. Parallel analysis sheets for theme and characterization between Of Mice and Men and Guardians of the Galaxy must be submitted upon the completion of the film, which will now fall on Monday 3/9. Students will then be required to take notes on the introduction PPT for Shakespeare and Hamlet. Note taking guides will be due on Wednesday 3/11. Vocabulary 5A Quiz will be given on Friday 3/13.
Practical English 12
Students must continue to complete corresponding study guides with the chapter readings of Lord of the Flies. Students will be responsible for completing Chapters 6-8 by Friday 3/13. Vocabulary 2 Quiz will be given on Friday 3/13.
Honors English 10
Due to the delays and cancellations, finished outlines for the research project must be competed for submission by Wednesday 3/13. Thesis statements and topic outlines will be due Monday 3/9. Rough drafts are tentatively scheduled for Monday 3/23. Preparation for To Kill a Mockingbird will begin Monday 3/16.
Journalism
Students will review the areas of news interest and newspaper terminology for a quiz on Wednesday 3/11. Students will then be responsible for 5 examples of leads due Friday 3/13.

Week of February 23 to February 27
Feature Writing
Students will be responsible for writing a Societal Observation article in which they make an observation about culture or society and draft a 1-page article stating an opinionated stance from their personal perspectives due Thursday 2/26. Students will need to draft a Food Blogger article that will be due Monday 3/2. Students should begin working on the planning phases of the investigative journalism projects; proposals for the projects will be due Friday 3/6.
English 11
Students will need to continue filling out worksheets for Of Mice and Men. The theme worksheet will be collected after the parallel film assignment. After viewing Guardians of the Galaxy, students will be responsible for submitting the Of Mice and Men theme worksheet and the Guardians characterization/theme sheet on Wednesday 3/4. Worksheets for vocabulary Lesson 5A will also be due on Wednesday 3/4.
Practical 12
Students will continue reading Lord of the Flies and will be responsible for answering the corresponding study guide questions for Chapters 5-8. Worksheets for vocabulary List #2 will be due Wednesday 3/4.
Honors 10
Students should continue conducting individual research for projects, finding and collecting relevant articles. Abstracts 6-10 will be due Monday 3/2 and Abstracts 11 and 12 will be due Wednesday 3/4. Completed thesis statements will be due Friday 3/6. MLA format for outlines and paper setup will be discussed throughout the next week with tentative dates not yet scheduled for the outline and rough draft.

Week of September 8 to September 12
Advanced Writing
Students will submit the "First Line" piece for Monday 9/8 and will bring a photo for the "1,000 word fiction" project that will be due on Wednesday 9/10. Workshops will occur in class for each assignment.
English 11
Students must submit all materials for the "Literary Terms Poster" project and should be prepared for presentations on Monday 9/8. All corrections for the first quiz are also due Monday. The homework for vocabulary list #1A will be due Tuesday; the quiz will follow on Friday 9/12. Students will begin reading early American literature and will focus on drafting an original creation story.
Honors English 10
Students will begin reading the short story unit and will be responsible for all reading assignments and corresponding graphic organizers. Group projects for the Literary Devices will be due Monday 9/15. A photostory and P.O.V. creative writing process will be assigned this week but the due date will remain tentative until the end of the week. Students will be asked to produce a 1,000 creative fiction assignment that ties into a photograph of their choice. The assignment should clearly establish scene and utilize sensory details. The assignment must be printed and will be due Monday 9/8. Students should also find literary examples from writers they would want to emulate for our style discussion next week.
