Week of September 8 to September 11

Remind General Questions


Honors English 10
Students will continue working on the Literary Device PowerPoint and will have two projects at the conclusion of the unit. The Metaphor Poem will be due Monday 9/14 and the Literary Device Project will be due Thursday 9/17. The first lesson of the biweekly vocabulary series will also be assigned this week; homework will be due Wednesday 9/16.

Honors English 12
Students will begin reading Lord of the Flies. As a parallel of the content in the novel, students will be given total accountability of completing the necessary assignments. They will be given a list of unit objectives that must be completed prior to the end date of the novel reading (Friday September 18); they will also be given a series of daily goals that I will provide at the beginning of class. The format is designed to mirror that of the characters in the novel and will be observed for a grade as well. Students will be given a more detailed description in class on Tuesday 9/8.

Advanced Writing
Students will submit their Vocabulary Builder short story on Tuesday 9/8 and should also provide a sample photo for the Picture's Worth 1,000 Words Project which will be due Monday 9/14.

Practical Literature 10
Students will complete a quiz on Literary Terms and Devices on Tuesday 9/8. Following the quiz, textbooks will be distributed and students will begin reading pieces in a short story unit. This readings for this week will include W.W. Jacobs' The Monkey's Paw and Poe's Masque of the Red Death.

Practical English 10
Students will be given the worksheet packet for Vocabulary List 1 which must be completed by Tuesday 9/15. The class will continue working on Objects and Complements and will complete a quiz on Thursday 9/10. Students will then start the Phrase Unit, beginning with prepositional phrases as adjectives or adverbs,
