Week of May 2 to May 6

English 11
Students will continue reading Act V of Hamlet. Scene i on the study guides will be checked for a grade on Wednesday. Students are also responsible for the MLA outline which is due Thur. 5/5. Students will complete the entire study guide for Act V by Friday.

PSSA
All work will be completed in class.

SAT Prep
All work will be completed in class.

English 8
Students will review phrases and will have a test including participles, participial phrases, gerunds, gerund phrases, infinitives, infinitive phrases, and appositives on Thurs. 5/5. Vocabulary #27 will be due Wed. 5/4; however, there will not be a vocabulary quiz until the following week due to the Hershey field trip on Friday.

Journalism
Students must have filmed content completed for Thurs. 5/5. Digital editing will begin as each individual group finishes the package.

Week of 4/26 to 4/29

English 11
Students are currently focusing on two major projects: Shakespeare's Hamlet and the annual research paper. Dates and expectations for each are listed below.

Hamlet:
Study Guide (Act IV, scene v-vii) due Wed. 4/27. Act IV Quiz on Fri. 4/29.

Paper:
Source Cards with MLA citations (10-12) due Fri. 4/29. MLA Outline due Thurs. 5/5. Rough Draft (4 pgs, MLA formatted with Works Cited) due Tues. 5/10. Final draft paper (4-5 pgs, MLA formatted with Works Cited) due Fri. 5/20. All work must be submitted on the dates listed above. NO WORK will be awarded points if submitted late. NO EXCEPTIONS.

PSSA
All work will be completed during class.

SAT Prep
All work will be completed during class.

English 8
Students will work with infinitives and review all forms of verbals (Participles, Participial Phrases, Gerunds, Gerund Phrases, Infinitives, Infinitive Phrases) with a test on Thurs. 4/28. Vocabulary 26 Quiz will be Fri. 4/29.

Journalism
Students must finish shooting all raw footage for broadcast news packages by Fri. 4/29 so that they may edit the content in the following week. Students will also be given terminology sheets pertinent to broadcast journalism with a test to follow.

Week of April 18 to April 21

English 11
Students will review study guide information for Act III of Hamlet and will have a quiz on the entire act on Tues. 4/19. Students will also be required to provide a thesis statement for their research papers on Tues. 4/19. Students will be given new study guides for Act IV and will be responsible for independent readings. Vocabulary will be due Wed. 4/20.

PSSA
All work will be completed in class.

SAT Prep
All work will be completed in class.

English 8
Students will complete last week's Vocabulary #25 quiz on Mon. 4/18. Students will continue working with phrases and verbals and will be given worksheets to complete for each type: participles, gerunds, infinitives. Vocabulary for Lesson #26 will not be due until Wednesday of the following week.

Journalism
Students will spend the week writing, filming and editing packages for a group broadcast journalism project.

Week of April 11 to April 15

English 11
Students will be responsible for completing the Act III study guides. Scenes i and ii will be checked Wed. 4/13 and scenes iii and iv will be checked Fri. 4/15. This will also be the last week that students can complete research for the paper during class.

PSSA
All work will be completed during class.

SAT
All work will be completed during class.

English 8
Students will complete a test on adverbial or adjectival phrases on Tues. 4/12. Vocabulary notebooks will be due Wed. 4/13 with a test to follow on Fri. 4/15.

Journalism
Students will draft a script for news segments due Thurs. 4/14. Approved students will attend a field trip to WBRE on Friday.

Week of April 4 to April 8

English 11
Students will review Act II of Hamlet and will complete a test on the entire act on Wed. 4/6. Students will also be responsible for choosing a general and specific topic for the independent research paper.

PSSA
All work will be completed in class.

SAT Prep
All work will be completed in class.

English 8
Students will receive a grade for the creative writing preposition activity. Students will identify each of the prepositions as an adjective or adverb. Two separate grades will be given for the project. Vocabulary will be due Wed. 4/6 with a quiz to follow on Fri. 4/8.

Journalism
Students will complete the number analysis project for a grade. Another summary on perspective will be due at the end of the week.

Week of March 28 to April 1

English 11
Students will review characterization and plot development for Act I of Hamlet. A quiz will be given Wed. 3/30. Students will continue reading Act II. Vocabulary will not be due until the following week.


PSSA 12
All  work will be completed in class.

English 8
Students will review conjunctions and adverbs for a quiz Tues. 3/29. After this quiz, students will work on prepositional phrases. Vocabulary 23 is also due on Wednesday with a quiz to follow on Fri. 4/1.

Journalism
Students will work on the third edition of the Spartan Spectrum and will discuss ideas for the broadcast journalism project.

SAT Prep
All work will be completed in class.

Week of February 28 to March 4

English 11
Students will continue working with Clauses. Packet #1 will be due Mon. 2/28. Packet #2 will be due Tues. 3/1. A comprehensive review will given on all clause types Wed. with a Test to follow on Thurs. 3/2. Vocabulary 10 will be checked on Wed. with a Quiz to follow on Fri. 3/4.
***Senior Project Proposals are due Friday, March 4.

PSSA

SAT Prep
All work will be completed in class.

English 8
Students will review on Monday and will have a Test on Verb Tense Tues. 3/1. Vocabulary #20 will be checked in notebooks on Wed. 3/2 with a quiz to follow Fri. 3/4.

Journalism
Students will finish the paper dummy layout which will be submitted Wed. 3/2 and will begin working with digital formatting. The investigative journalism final project with research articles is due Fri. 3/4.
