Week of December 19 to December 23

English 11
Students will review grammar homework on Monday 12/19 with a parts of speech quiz on Tuesday 12/20. Students will begin working on subjects and predicates with corresponding worksheets to be done for homework.

Journalism
Students will work on Holiday/Police Report prompts and will submit the completed article on Thursday 12/22.

Honors English 10
Students will review infinitive worksheets on Monday 12/19 with a quiz to follow on Tuesday 12/20. Student will then begin working on appositive phrases with a brief quiz on Thursday 12/22. The comprehensive Phrase Test will be given on Friday 1/6.

SAT Prep
Students will continue working with writing activities in the SAT workbook.

Week of December 12 to December 16

English 11
Students will review vocabulary terms on Monday 12/12. Students will begin a review of parts of speech and parts of a sentence. Corresponding grammar worksheets will be given and should be completed within the next day. The vocabulary quiz for Lesson 7 will be Friday 12/16.

Journalism
Students will submit the individual film critique on Monday 12/12. Students will begin working on broadcast journalism terminology with a review on Wednesday 12/14 and a quiz on 12/15.

Honors English 10
Students will review vocabulary terms on Monday 12/12. Students will review gerunds/gerund phrases and will have a brief quiz on Tuesday 12/13. Grammar lessons will continue with infinitive phrases and will have corresponding worksheets. The vocabulary quiz for Lesson 6 will be Friday 12/16.

SAT Prep
Students will complete activities on writing improvement for the test's grammar and writing sections.

Week of December 5 to December 9

English 11
Students will submit Study Guides for the second half of Of Mice and Men on Monday 12/5. Vocabulary will be reviewed on Wednesday 12/7.

Journalism
Students will submit the Forrest Gump group critique on Wednesday 12/7, the independent entertainment review on 12/8 and the independent review on Friday 12/9.

Honors English 10
Students will work on participles and participial phrases and will complete a quiz on Participles/Participial Phrases on Wednesday 12/7. Vocabulary will be due Friday 12/9.

SAT Prep
Students will continue online assessments on reading comprehension.

Week of November 29 to December 2

English 11
Students will finish reading the final chapters for Of Mice and Men and will complete the corresponding Study Guide questions. The Vocabulary 6 quiz will be given on Friday 12/2.

Journalism
Students will continue working with critiques of artistic performances. Students will view a film in class and work in pairs to construct a critique; for homework students will choose a medium for an individual critique and review. The individual project must be approved by Thursday 12/1.

Honors English 10
Students will work on Phrases in class and will have corresponding worksheets that will be assigned specific deadlines in class- updates will follow on the blog. Vocabulary 5 quiz will be given on Friday 12/2. The final Film Casting Project will be due on Tuesday 12/6.

SAT Prep
Students will complete online assessments for Reading Comprehension. All work will be completed in class.

Week of November 21 to November 23

English 11
Students will review Study Guides 1-3 on Monday 11/21 and will have a quiz on Chapters 1-3 of Of Mice and Men on Tuesday 11/22.

Journalism
Students will take notes on Critiques of Entertainment and will chose a film for articles after the holiday break.

Honors English 10
Students will continue working on the Fahrenheit 451 film casting project and will submit the Lyrics in Literature Essay on Wednesday 11/23.

SAT Prep
All work will be completed in class. Students will review Chapter 7 Practice Quiz.  

Week of November 14 to November 18

English 11
Students will begin working on the novel Of Mice and Men and will be required to complete study guides 1 & 2 this week. Students must submit essay response to The Crucible on Wednesday 11/16.

Journalism
Students will submit the professional sports article Monday 11/14 and the high school sports article with interview on 11/15. Students will review typography terminology and will have a quiz on these terms on Thursday 11/17. Students will also have an in-class article review on Friday 11/18.

Honors English 10
Students will begin working of Prepositional and Participial Phrases with corresponding worksheets. Students will submit song lyrics and outlines for the Lyrics in Literature paper on Wednesday 11/16.

SAT Prep
All work will be completed in class.

Week of November 7 to November 10

English 11
Students will view film adaptation of The Crucible. Vocab Quiz #5 will be given on Thurs. 11/10.

Journalism
Students will make a list of essential sports writing elements using Chapter 5 of the textbook and actual sports articles. Students will be responsible for drafting two sports articles: one covering a professional sporting event; the other covering a high school sporting event. The high school sporting event MUST include a prescheduled interview.

Honors English 10
Students will review vocab and grammar worksheets on Mon. 11/7. Students will have a quiz on Parts of a Sentence (subjects, predicates, complements, and objects) on Wed. 11/9. Vocab Quiz #4 will be given on Thurs. 11/10.

SAT Prep
Students will work on Chapter 7 of the SAT Writing Book and will finish all corresponding exercises. Practice Quiz #2 will be given next week.
