Broadcast Journalism
Students will continue working on independent beat projects and will work collectively on the Election piece, and the community newsletter. All writing for the newsletter must be submitted by Wednesday 10/26.
Honors English 10
Students will complete the Unit Test for Short Stories on Monday 10/17. Discussion on dystopian genre and background for Fahrenheit 451 will follow on Tuesday. Students will be responsible for reading Part One of F451 by Wednesday 10/26.
Advanced Writing
Students will begin the Ordeal by Cheque project. Outlines will be due by Wednesday 10/19 and first drafts will be due on Monday 10/24.
Practical English 10
Students will begin Fahrenheit 451 on Monday. Background and discussion on Dystopia will begin. All worksheets for Part One will be due the day after it is assigned. Vocabulary Quizzes for Lesson 3 will be given on Monday 10/17.

Week of October 11 to October 14
Broadcast Journalism
Students will film final segments for the bullying video. Groups must also schedule equipment for individual stories. All individual stories must be filmed, edited, and submitted no later than October 28th.
Honors English 10
Students must submit Literary Response Journals 2 & 3 on Tuesday October 11th. PowerPoint notes for Contents of the Dead Man's Pocket will also be due Tuesday. PowerPoint Notes for A Problem will be due Friday. The creative writing project for Masque of the Red Death will also be due Friday October 14th.
Advanced Writing
Students must submit the Vocabulary Writing; this writing will not be workshopped. Class time and homework will focus on mini grammar lessons. All worksheets must be submitted on Friday October 14th.
Practical Literature 10
Students will review all five of the short stories on Tuesday with the test to follow on Thursday October 13th. Students will then begin a discussion on Dystopia prior to the reading of the novel Fahrenheit 451.
Practical English 10
Students will begin Object & Complement breakdowns with daily charting for data and growth. A unit test will not occur until next week. All corresponding worksheets will be collected and graded the day after each is distributed. Vocabulary 3 homework will be due on Friday October 14th.

In addition to their collective reporting and editing efforts, students will also work on studio set up and equipment proficiency. All students must test on camera use by Thursday 9/8. On Friday students will work on Chapter 4 of the textbook and are responsible for drafting mock interview questions due Tuesday 9/13.
Honors English 10
Students will continue on the Literary Terms & Devices PPT and will begin working on the group project. Directions for the project will be given on Wednesday 9/7 and a due date for the project will be discussed in class and will then be posted on next week's homework helpline post (This date will also be sent out via Remind Text). Students will have some class time this week to work on the project but are also expected to complete work outside of class as well. Terminology for Vocabulary Lesson 1A will be reviewed on Friday 9/9.

Students will begin W.W. Jacobs' The Monkey's Paw and will discuss literary devices such as plot, foreshadowing, and characterization. Readings will be completed in class and will also include worksheets that must be completed; any work not completed in class must be submitted at the beginning of class the following day. Following The Monkey's Paw, students will then begin on Shirley Jackson's The Lottery.
