Week of April 29 to May 3

Feature Writing
Students will focus on typography terminology with a quiz on Thursday 5.2.13.

Advanced Writing
Students will work on the Writer's Toolkit during class. Upcoming assignments include a 3-page nonfiction reflection due on May 13th for seniors and May 17th for juniors.

English 11
Students will review gerunds and will complete quiz on Thursday 5.2.13. Corresponding worksheets will be given throughout the week and will be due at the beginning of the next class day.

Honors English 10
Students will complete the Act I-III Quiz for Julius Caesar on Monday 4.29.13. Study guides for Acts IV and V will be due Friday 5.3.13. Vocabulary homework will be due Tuesday 4.30.13 with a quiz to follow on Friday 5.3.13.

Week of April 22 to April 26

Feature Writing
Students will be tested on newsroom terminology on Tuesday and we receive more notes on article presentation and development of leads.

Advanced Writing
Students are responsible for writing critique letters to two separate students about their poetry submissions. These letters will be due Tuesday 4/23 for the odd section and Wednesday 4/24 for the even section. Students must have read all poems for the remaining 10 students in class for the workshop discussion.

English 11
Students will finish watching the film adaptation of Hamlet and must finish the writing prompt for Friday 4/26. Students will also switch between phrases in the grammar book and Study Island reading comprehension sessions that will be assigned in class later in the week,

Honors English 10
Students are required to read Act III, scene i of Julius Caesar for Monday 4/22. In-class readings and discussion will finish Act III by Wednesday. Students will discuss ethos, pathos, and logos on Wednesday and will be assigned a speech assignment that will be due on  Friday 5/3. Information covered in Acts I-III will be reviewed Thursday 4/25 and quizzed on Friday 4/26.

Week of April 15 to April 19

Feature Writing
Students will continue the Immersion Project and will also start covering aspects of the history of American journalism and other industry terminology.

Advanced Writing
Students will work on the quote submission. Students in the odd section will submit their writings on Wednesday 4/17 and students in the even section will submit their assignments on Thursday 4/18.

English 11
Students will complete a quiz on Act IV of Hamlet on Monday 4/15. Act V will be read in class on Tuesday and Wednesday. Study guides will be due on Thursday 4/18. The Act V review will begin on Friday 4/19 with a quiz to follow on Monday 4/22.

Honors English 10
Students will continue reading Julius Caesar and completing study guide responses. Vocabulary homework will be due on Tuesday 4/16 with a quiz to follow on Friday 4/19.

Week of April 8 to April 12

Feature Writing
Interviews will be due on Tuesday and independent research for immersion writing will be discussed in class.

Advanced Writing
Portfolio designs will be discussed and students will choose selections and draft new pieces for a collective class literature magazine. Submissions can include prose, essay, and poetry.

English 11
Study guide responses for Act IV scenes i and ii of Hamlet will be due Monday. Responses for scenes iii and iv will be due Tuesday. scenes v-vii will be due Friday. The quiz for vocabulary list 11 will be given on Wednesday 4/10. The Hamlet Act IV quiz will be Monday 4/15.

Honors English 10
Abstract Art projects will be due Monday 4/8. Maycomb Yard Sale video projects will be submitted and viewed on Friday 4/12. Make sure that the video is saved on a flash drive or disc in case it cannot be accessed via a YouTube page.

Week of April 3 to April 5

Feature Writing
Students will review interview skills and will conduct one half-hour interview and will submit an article summary on Monday 4/8.

Advanced Writing
Students will submit revisions for the last creative writing project on Wednesday 4/3 and Thursday 4/4 depending on which day student sections meet in class. Students attending the field trip to the Writer's Institute on Friday 4/5 should be prepared to leave from the lower lobby immediately following homeroom.

English 11
Students will review Act III of Hamlet; study guides for Act III will be due on Wednesday 4/3. Vocabulary homework will be checked on this day as well, with a quiz to follow on Thursday 4/4. The quiz for Act III will be completed on Friday 4/5.

Honors English 10
Students will continue to watch the 1961 Academy Award winning film adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird. Vocabulary quizzes for list 10 will be given Friday 4/5. The Abstract Adjective Art Project/Research Essay will be due Monday 4/8 and the Maycomb Yard Sale Video Projects will be due on Friday 4/12.

Week of March 18 to March 22

Feature Writing
Students will be responsible for scheduling time outside of class for immersion observation and interviews. Notebooks will be checked on Fridays.

Advanced Writing
Students will participate in peer edit workshops and will begin revisions on the song list creative story. Revisions will be due Wednesday April 3.

English 11
Students will finish reading Act II of Hamlet and will complete a review on Thursday 3/21 and a quiz on Friday 3/22. A vocabulary quiz on list #10 will be given Wednesday 3/20.

Honors English 10
Reading assignments for the remaining chapters of To Kill a Mockingbird are: Ch 24-25 for Monday 3/18, Ch 26-27 for Wednesday 3/20, and Ch 28-31 for Monday 3/25. Pop quizzes may be given to assess for completion and understanding of the readings.

Week of March 4 to March 8

Feature Writing
Students will need to submit proposals for investigative research project by Friday 3/8.

Advanced Writing
Creative song stories will be due Tuesday for Odd Section students and Wednesday for Even section students. Peer reviews and edits will follow later in the week.

English 11
Students will finish Act I of Hamlet and review material on Thursday. A quiz on all of Act I will be given on Friday 3/8. Vocabulary homework will be due Tuesday 3/5, the quiz date will be announced later in the week. Drafts of the research paper will be due Friday 3/15.

Honors English 10
Students will revise original drafts of the research project and will submit the final copy on Monday March 11. Readings for chapters 20-22 of To Kill a Mockingbird must be completed by Monday March 11. Vocabulary homework will be due Tuesday March 12.
