Week of November 27 to November 30

Journalism
Students will work on an in-class assignment where each student will assume the role of reporter to make choices about how to track a beat.

Advanced Writing
The first draft of the creative writing assignment has been submitted and will be discussed in pairs through a structured in-class peer review.

English 11
The Crucible essay responses are due Tuesday 11/27. Vocabulary homework will be submitted on Wednesday 11/28 with a quiz to follow on Friday 11/30. The first grammar quiz will be given on Tuesday 12/4 and will cover parts of speech and basic parts of a sentence.

Honors English 10
Students will continue reviewing grammar. Vocabulary homework will be due Tuesday 11/27 with a quiz to follow on Friday 11/30. The first grammar quiz will be given on Wednesday 12/5.

Week of November 19 to November 21

Journalism
Students will begin researching stylistic elements of editorials and columns. Examples of writing will be due following the Thanksgiving holiday break.

Advanced Writing
The deadline for the Ordeal by Cheque creative writing assignment will be Wednesday 11/21. Peer edits will begin after Thanksgiving break.

English 11
Students will begin the introductory review on grammar and will start with Parts of Speech. A parts of speech test will be given on Thursday 11/29. Vocabulary homework will be due Wednesday 11/28 with a quiz to follow on Friday 11/30.

Honors English 10
The Lyrics in Literature papers will be due on Tuesday 11/20. Students will begin the introductory review on grammar and will start with Parts of Speech. A parts of speech test will be given on Wednesday 11/28. Vocabulary homework will be due Tuesday 11/27 with a quiz to follow on Friday 11/30.

Week of November 12 to November 16

Journalism
Students will begin working on typography terms. A review will be given on Wednesday with a quiz to follow on Thursday 11/15. The film critique will begin in class on Friday and will be due on Monday 11/19.

Advanced Writing
Initial drafts for the Ordeal by Cheque creative writing assignment will be due on Friday 11/16 for the odd group, and Monday 11/19 for the even group.

English 11
Students will submit vocabulary homework and the Act IV study guide on Monday 11/12. Each quiz will be held on Friday 11/16. The Crucible essay prompts will be due Tuesday 11/20.

Honors English 10
The vocabulary quiz will be moved to Tuesday 11/13. The propaganda commercial project will be due Friday 11/16. The lyrics for the Lyrics in Literature paper must be submitted and approved by Thursday 11/15 with the final paper to due on Tuesday 11/20.

Week of November 5 to November 8

Journalism
Students will begin an in-class activity for reviews and critiques of artistic performances. The final copy of the review will be due on Tuesday 11/13.

Advanced Writing
Students will continue working on the first draft of the Ordeal by Cheque creative writing assignment. First drafts will be due on Friday 11/16.

English 11
Students will take a test on Act III of The Crucible on Tuesday 11/6 and will continue reading Act IV for the rest of the week. Vocabulary homework and the Lesson 5 quiz will be moved to next week.

Honors English 10
Students will discuss Part 3 of Fahrenheit 451 and will take the final essay test on Thursday 11/8. The vocabulary quiz will be moved to Monday 11/12. The Propaganda project will be due on Wednesday 11/13.

Week of October 22 to October 26

Journalism
Students will proofread student articles and will work in class to create and finish the paper and digital layout of the first issue of the school newspaper.

Advanced Writing
Students will work in class to complete an outline for the Ordeal by Cheque assignment. Outlines for the Odd section will be due at the end of class on Friday 10/26 and on Monday 10/29 for the Even section.

English 11
Students will complete the Act II quiz for the Crucible on Tuesday 10/23. Vocabulary homework will be due on Wednesday 10/24 with a quiz to follow on Friday 10/26.

Honors English 10
Students will complete an assessment on Part One of Fahrenheit 451 on Monday 10/22. Readings will include pages 71-93 for Tuesday and pages 93 - the end of Part II for Thursday. Vocabulary homework will be due on Tuesday 10/23 with a quiz to follow on Friday 10/26.

Week of October 9 to October 12

Journalism
Students will submit inverted pyramid and interview articles on Wednesday 10/10. Obituaries will be due Friday 10/12.

Advanced Writing
Workshops and peer reviews will occur in class. Next week students will prepare for the character development project.

English 11
Vocabulary homework will be checked on Wednesday 10/10 with a quiz to follow on Friday 10/12. Study guides for Act I of The Crucible will also be due on Friday. An in-class review of the content will be covered this week and a quiz on Act I will be held on Monday 10/15.

Honors English 10
Students will read pages 3-32 of Fahrenheit 451 by Tuesday 10/9; class discussions will follow. Upcoming reading assignments include: 32-48 for Thursday 10/11 and 48-68 for Monday 10/15. Vocabulary quiz 2 will be given on Friday 10/12.

Week of October 1 to October 5

Journalism
Interview articles will be due Friday 10/5. Students will be watching the film Shattered Glass based upon Stephen Glass and the fictional stories that he submitted and had published through the New Republic magazine.

Advanced Writing
Blindfold sensory observation activity will be due Friday 10/5 for the odd group and Tuesday 10/9 for the even group. Character journals will begin next week.

English 11
Study guides for Act I Parts 1&2 of the Crucible will be due Friday. Homework for Vocabulary list 3 will be due Tuesday 10/9 with a quiz to follow on Friday 10/12.

Honors English 10
The Unit 1 - Short Stories Test will be given Wednesday 10/3. Vocabulary homework for list 2 will be due Tuesday 10/9 with a quiz to follow on Friday 10/12.
