English 11
Students will read sections in the textbooks and take notes during class. Any notes not completed in class will become homework. This week's sections include the introductory section titled Beginnings to 1750, The Earth on Turtle's Back and When Grizzlies Walked Upright. Students will also take a Quiz on Literary Terms on Thurs. 9/8. Vocabulary #1 definitions and sentences will also be checked on this day.
Journalism
Students will be required to take outline the chapter on the History of American Journalism. After reviewing prominent figures in the history of journalism, students will choose a current figure to prepare a brief presentation due Fri. 9/9.
SAT Prep
Students will complete a quiz on literary terms this week. All other assignments will be completed in class.
Honors English 10
Students will complete a list of examples of specific Literary Terms. Vocabulary List #1 will be given on Friday and students will be required to complete the work for homework.

Welcome back!
During the first week of school, students are still becoming acclimated with classroom expectations and new daily procedures. Homework is limited this week; however, students will have some assignments. This amount will change as we progress throughout the year. Students in all classes will be asked to reply to another post (titled "POST HERE" on my Homework Helpline page before Tuesday Sept. 6 to ensure that all students have access to information posted on this resource. As far as the week is concern the class below should complete the following assignments:
English 11
Students will be required to take notes during class on common literary devices used in higher level thinking and analysis of literature. Students will have assignments which will be completed in class, but will also be expected to study these terms for a Quiz that will be held on Wed. Sept 7. This Friday also begins Lesson One of the vocabulary series. Students are given time in class to define the list of words and write sentences for each. Students should bring in old issues of newspapers for an activity involving the 6 basic categories of news coverage. Students will also take notes on the What is News PowerPoint and should familiarize themselves with the terminology for a test TBA.

Students will continue reading Act V of Hamlet. Scene i on the study guides will be checked for a grade on Wednesday. Students are also responsible for the MLA outline which is due Thur. 5/5. Students will complete the entire study guide for Act V by Friday.

Students will review phrases and will have a test including participles, participial phrases, gerunds, gerund phrases, infinitives, infinitive phrases, and appositives on Thurs. 5/5. Vocabulary #27 will be due Wed. 5/4; however, there will not be a vocabulary quiz until the following week due to the Hershey field trip on Friday.
Journalism
Students must have filmed content completed for Thurs. 5/5. Digital editing will begin as each individual group finishes the package.

Hamlet:
Study Guide (Act IV, scene v-vii) due Wed. 4/27. Act IV Quiz on Fri. 4/29.
Paper:
Source Cards with MLA citations (10-12) due Fri. 4/29. MLA Outline due Thurs. 5/5. Rough Draft (4 pgs, MLA formatted with Works Cited) due Tues. 5/10. Final draft paper (4-5 pgs, MLA formatted with Works Cited) due Fri. 5/20. All work must be submitted on the dates listed above. NO WORK will be awarded points if submitted late. NO EXCEPTIONS.
